It's Not a Promotion - It's a Career Change
6 minutes read.

A fantastic post by Lindsay Holmwood, on choosing a path of leadership. I wish I could have read it when I was first promoted to lead a team. Beautifully written - "By striving to be a multiplier, the effects of the hard work you and the team put in can be far greater than what you can achieve individually. You only reap the benefits of this if you shift your measure of job satisfaction from your own performance to the group's."

Designers + Engineers + Empathy = Greatness
4 minutes read.

I'd argue that one of the toughest challenges of any leadership position is to create empathy between different people both inside the team and with other teams in the organization. Highly recommended read.

Spotify Engineering Culture (Part 2)
14 minutes read.

This is the second part of Spotify's engineering culture (video). It's impressive to see how much they're willing to push the company and continue to innovate without finding excuses on why it would never work. I've seen at least 3 more companies with hundreds of engineers that started to use Spotify's Guilds and Tribes to help scale the company. No doubt, they're building a great brand by teaching others practices that worked (or failed) for them.

This Email May Be Worth Millions of Dollars in Sales
3 minutes read.

This email is probably aimed for marketing or sales departments, but I think that this mindset is what fuels great companies. It's a question of choosing your unfair advantage and aligning the team to execute in a way that will get them to win the market.

How do you incentivize a growth mindset when someone makes a mistake? Share it with other leaders in your organization and have some discussion on how you can promote a Growth mindset in your teams.

What You Don't Know About Management
60 minutes read.

The wonderful team at iDoneThis are crafting some amazing content recently. Both Walter and Janet wrote about 30 posts in the past month on leadership and culture that truly blew my mind in terms of quality and value. I saw that now they compiled their most valuable advices to a free e-book you can download. so I thought it would be a great fit for you to read. I'm half way through and it's golden (Chapter 3 is my favourite).

A Step by Step Guide to Using Trello for Remote Team Retrospectives
7 minutes read.

Running retrospectives when some of the team are in the office and some work remote can be really difficult. I love this setup shared by Jessica Barnett. The question remains though, is how to create an environment where even people working remote are not afraid to share their opinions.
